Thinking about some pretty radical restructuring for my music marketing services to be honest.

Music marketing has long been a bit of a funny one because the amount of stress in delivering what I stated has been a problem because of what I believe they call ” expectation management” that is, when customers don’t have a clear idea of what they’re getting, there expectations become raised.

And now I was just doing some cost analysis and realsing these services aren’t nearly as profitable as they should be. The idea of the music marketing packages that I’ve been successful in developing was that artists got everything in one package but I don’t think that’s really working for me.

If I have 10 clients paying $600 for 3 months I’ll have to pay employees for 300 hours, which doesn’t leave a great deal for me.

If in 3 months, clients order 60 videos, that’ll take my staff about the same time except I won’t have lifted a finger really.

But then if I sold these services individually then although I wouldn’t have the stability of bulk deals and ongoing business, each stage of the delivery can be more fully accounted for.

This model is kind of like a shop or a vendor in a computer game where you pick youur armaments and arm up according to your strategy. Something like that.

Instead of paying me $400 upfront for 30 hours and paying the rest if you want to instead you’ll pay prices like:

Website design and set up: $97 ($16)

pro bio / press release / sales page / newsletter  : $47 for 1 ($10) $97 for 3 ($30)

blog posts: $47 for 3

article marketing for SEO: $47 for 2 ($13)

basic video presentation: $97 ($15)

music video: $297 9$35)

full concept video: $497 ($66)

100k views: $797 ($190)

50k views: $497 ($100)

20k views: $297 ($50)

Email management + set up: $97 ($25)

domain + hosting for a year:  $47 ($15)

PPC adwords campaign (includes $150 free credit): $297 ($50

Social Media Promotion: $97 p/month ($20)

Business consultation and administration: $47 p/hour

Poster / banner / flyer design: $67

And THEN I can give a discount on those ordering more than $600 worth.

So an artist may need a website with email management for $241 ($56) 2 hours

they may need a package of copywriting and article marketing for $144  ($43) 1 hour

the would probably do well with a ppc google adwords campaign at $297 ($50) 3 hours

And an introductory video for $97 ($15) 1 hour

And perhaps $47 business development. 1 hour

Total:  $826 - 10% = $743

For pretty much the same work as I would have charged $600 for,  hoping I would have got the second installment.

There would be costs of $164 to consider whereas before that was $90, I’ve got 8 hours down here whereas before that would be 12, but most likely more.

So before I was making $510 in 12 hours

Now I’m making $579 in 8 hours but requires a lot more selling - but a lot less guilt and commitment.
