Business Development in Duplication, Printing, Marketing Services

Friday, January 14th, 2011

So moving on for plans in promotions, marketing, duplication and replication, printing and all the services we offer so cheaply to auckland, new zealand and beyond . . .

It’s time to get really stuck in for how we’re going to play our business development in 2011.

The plan behind the shop was always to have it dictated by our relative prosperity.

Our relative prosperity remains high so as long as this continues it won’t be long before we’re eyeing up a new space and looking for a chance to get our retail operation and service depot for all our cd dvd duplication, printing and copying services set up as well as all the great poster and flyer printing deals we offer, a1, a2, a3, a4, a5 – on card, glossy, whatever your printing needs we’ll be there to arrange the order and delivery at a competitive price.

But we are going to win the fight this year to not do too much, it’s about finding balance between making hay when these opportunities exist, and realising there’s no need at this stage to be concerned about being neglectful of my business, business development can’t come at the cost of personal development right now because I can’t afford it.

But if we continue to do well we will continue to look at suitable physical location

In that time we will look at taking our cd and dvd replication and duplication services from auckland and new zealand and begin to offer these services in Australia, focusing on the main centres of sydney, melbourne, and brisbane.

The assistant is the first thing to take charge of the marketing situation, get that running smoothely again.

So really at that stage we just need to bolster our marketing in the areas we are prepared to develop – cd dvd duplication, replication and australian cd dvd reproduction services, video production, pirate birthday entertainment, and our other entertainment brands.

I don’t want to do that just by spending restless energy focused on this blog, blogging keywords, auckland, cheap, printing, cd duplication, dvd duplication etc – you get the picture.

I think we can do some quality linking campaigns also, article marketing, and also do follow commenting, and whatever else is available for SEO purposes. Maybe we will consider writing some better content if we can work out what to do with it.

Part of that will be following up web design for some of my other sites and pushing forward with video.

There isn’t really much to do this year, should everything continue to be normal. Get an assistant / intern who can assist me to build all our online services and marketing back up; get a shop or physical retail and service space; continue to push out marketing and promotions for our cd duplication / dvd copying, dvd repliction and australian business.

That’s our plan for 2011 based on no new significant opportunities or any prolonged slumps in business, both of which are likely to present themselves at some stage this year.

So if we have an assistant, a shop, and marketing campaigns that allow us to be selling cd and dvd replication as well as cd dvd duplication in new zealand and australia, if we have that all sorted by 2012 I will be stoked!

What does it really matter whether we have videos up or what our websites look like from the business point of view – not the personal preference – if we are still making the same profit or more from our cd dvd duplication and posters / flyers / colour printing and copying and we’re continuing to add the income stream from our marketing services and pirate birthday parties?

KURB PROMOTIONS AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND

CD DVD PRINTING / BURNING / COPYING / DUPLICATION / REPLICATION / REPRODUCTION
CHEAP COLOUR PRINTING AND COLOUR COPYING
ONLINE MARKETING SERVICES / ENTERTAINMENT SERVICES

Well we didn’t get the retail shop we had planned on which was a little bit disappointing for a day or two but I tell you what, I didn’t feel like it was going to happen it was a little bit “too good to be true” it was a little bit of a situation where it would be a little bit massive and overwhelming.

It would have changed everything. It felt very big, not in a scary way, but I guess the implications, the possibilities, were not daunting but . . . just, big. serious.

We’ll still plan for a shop and keep looking around and keep the ideas behind that close in our minds when considering how this kind of expansion could play out, but right now it’s time to get back onto focusing on what we’re doing right now, because crazily enough, 2011 has started with a hiss and a roar and lots of orders coming in for our cd duplication and dvd duplication services available in auckland.

We also organise great cheap prices on printing and CD and DVD replication which I’ll be pushing this year also.

What I see happening is the high turnover from last year continuing. This means I will continue to see a necessity of expanding not just practically to keep pace with demand, but also in terms of our concept – like the shop – giving us more reach and more to offer customers.

Did you hear about the sony CD replication plant in the US shutting down? So it begins . . . but before the cd dvd reproduction business declines, businesses like mine will burgeon as we are able to continue providing that service at the same cheap price when there are less providers up and down the market.

Yes that market will be shrinking, but our portion of it will be increasing and it will be at least 5 years until we experience an actual decline in turnover.

But in the future still remains the possibility of the kurb promo shop, where not only we can create a depot for our current activity, but expand the products and services we offer to test the market.

The shop / retail / physical space allows more opportunity to use the street frontage to create awareness of different services we offer.

Also I am focused on hiring a promotions and marketing assistant to help me work through all these orders that come through and make sure we are always on top of our task list. It’s often complicated managing so many projects of different sizes and requirements.

But that way I am more focused on sales and pitching our services, confident that the service I’m selling in marketing and promotions is efficient as well as affordable and a great value deal.

This applies to our online video services, graphic design, web design, and a whole range of other online marketing services we offer. The cd burning and printing, dvd duplication side of the business should continue to be robust, but the shop also allows me to promote my pirate birthday service also.

Retail will be going in a couple of directions, starting with supplies that we use and branching out to other useful technology and media supplies. Then we’re looking at the cultural items such as clothing and music that we can retail in a cool way, and then also the products that we make ourselves – racks with the CD’s and DVD’s we produce for sale, factory shop style.

We should be looking at who we can offer printed T shirts etc. through.

Printing, Copying, Retail and Services Shop in Auckland

Sunday, January 9th, 2011

We do need an assistant to help us get our marketing services back on track, and we do need to consider the possibility of extending our cd and dvd duplication and replication deals to australia.

More immediately we need to present our new videos, and redo our websites.

But not until we know about this shop. Because if we’re going to set up a shop, we need to do that, then integrate the assistant, and australian efforts with the priority of getting the shop running.

A shop is really exciting!

obviously the first thing is it will provide massive visibility, assurance and convenience for clients and I think that will increase our current business in cd copying and dvd duplication even further, as well as the cheap printing, and poster / flyer printing and colour copying services – those will jump simply for us being more visible in the local community with frontage, as well as the trust and professionalism from having a shop.

Then, elements of video production, online marketing, graphic design can be presented as a service run through the office by an assistant, this is setting us off on the path of our fully integrated digital marketing service. It starts with the clients sitting down doing design, websites, hearing from me about the packages we offer, video options, and slowly streamlining the service and pushing up the price until we breakthrough to more established markets – and I’m pitching progressively larger clients and marketing campaigns.

– move all our stuff and set up cd / dvd duplication
– set up postering and cheap colour printing price boards and systems
– also don’t forget banners and large format printing options

– set up retailing and negotiate with suppliers

Next comes what items we might choose to retail, we’d start with blank discs, cases, and then go from there based on what our chinese suppliers could offer.

– computer units, computer repair, computer building
– all kinds of hard drives, sd cards, external hard drives, etc, dvd burners, cables
– anti virus, windows, pro tools, photosop, m-audio stuff
– peripherals – mouse, keyboard, scanner, monitor, parts, headset

My hope is that I will get a 10% discount at least from my supplier, and be able to put 10% on top. So if we can sell $150 worth of computer stuff a day, or I can sell a $1000 computer every week, well I’d be happy with 20% action on that.

Then we start selling our clients cd’s and dvd’s, and bring in vinyl and possibly clothes and other music supplies.

I think that’s the first stage. I think that will position us to find out long term whether these are the best retail items and how we might better provide for out clients through retail, over months of testing, we will find out what the best products for us to retail are.

– music retail of client products and vinyl

– consider, food, hospitality

– consider how facilities can be improved to foster walk in graphic design, web design, video production and general small business marketing and online marketing. We want people to be able to come off the street and purchase marketing units – website / ad campaign / content starter / video unit / pr unit; purchase design hours and video hours, get help with format issues etc.

– take a community approach to considering how we can work with other businesses in the immediate area

There’s a number of things back on the old list though that need to be dealt with.

– adwords for 3 clients
– website fixes for 3 clients
– newsletter stuff for 1 client + ace

This is all stuff I need an assistant to help me tackle. Then it’s videos, photoshoot, web redesign, an assistant can help with that as we’re building up.

Auckland Marketing and Promotions Assistant Strategy

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

There are several areas where an assistant can help me push through by completing mundane tasks.

SO with a new year comes all kinds of business strategies for growing, focusing, diversifying, qualifying and just generally improving the wider appeal of our marketing and promotions, cheap colour printing and cd dvd duplication business.

I feel I need an assistant to spend up to half a day every other day working intensively with me on tasks which include probably about 70% of what I do, and the trickier selling and sales, customer service, they will slowly pick up.

Our core focus remains expanding our services in auckland cd duplication, dvd copying and disc reproduction. This includes more focused campaigns for particular markets in new zealand, more aggressive advertising budgets, and looking at where we can provide value to an australian market.

BUt what outlying strategies we use to bring other services up beside the duplication and replication is dependent on how our growth continues.

If we’re growing strongly we’ll need to open a physical retail space or shop, and lay more foundations in our video production.

Entertainment we will continue to push under our own steam regardless

Pirates and music marketing will only be followed in response and reaction to the momentum it sustains, I won’t be planning anything specific to expand these ventures.

Finally, online retail and talent as well as entertainment will only be pushed under the stipulation that it regarded as a outlying pursuit and not a means to generate revenue, again looking to see where the momentum can take it.

So in regards to this momentum, we thought about how we can generate that garden, encourage that space, create the conditions in which momentum would carry these business ideas through with the least resistance.

So action paths for new strategies to create critical momentum:

– get new assistant for all online marketing, onine retail, video, and design
– revisit advertising strategies

– develop pirate website
– talent – wait for foundation client
– entertainment, wait for some kind of breakthrough
– shop – wait for opportunity

Okay we’re actually really serious about this marketing and promotions assistant required, and I’m accepting it’s going to be close working together because I need to be completely focused and deal to my issues with getting all these marketing tasks done because so many of them seem completely mundane but they overwhelm me.

All I need is a nice secretary person who can follow my instructions to the letter,

SO the assistant would arrive and I would start explaining stuff.

1st client jobs –

client mail has to be read and answered
jobs are mainly about contacting a contractor – odesk etc.
some advertising or website tweaks

send out invoice / reminder
learning about skype – assistant would need to sit in on skype calls.
learn about each marketing unit

do some camera >> pirates / modelling
write a blog post
talent agency

Reaching Out: New Auckland Video, Talent, Retail, Marketing Services

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

Hi I’m Matt from Kurb, this is my business blog where I write out a lot of ideas I have for expanding my business because it’s a way of processing the thoughts, getting them out there, and of course keeping track of ideas, comparing, contrasting and . . . well the more I blog, the more google seems to like my site and I should hope that I will be slowly getting better with my writing and how quickly I can turn articles out as well as buiding ideas on top of ideas until I have a really thorough vision of where I’ll be taking all of this.

Of course if you need cheap colour printing, cd copying, dvd burning, cd dvd duplication, posters, flyers, web marketing and basically a whole range of cheap marketing and promotions options, just email me

kurbpromo@gmail.com

It’s important for a new business with a new business model to be optimized for profitability.

Video and Pirates present short term opportunities there.

I would really only be relying on other marketing options if I was desperate, whereas entertainment and talent and online retail all need a plan.

I think my plan for a retail shop space in auckland is pretty solid now, we are really waiting for the final opportunity to arise, and this is what may happen with some of the other businesses.

With video we need to go beyond the $97 offering to packages at least worth $400. We need to work through that dip.

Pirates, similar to out auckland cd duplication and dvd copying, needs a major, targeted marketing campaign development, but the only ideas that don’t require a lot of effort from me are in deveoping the sites, but then again there will be a 3rd layer – how do we monetise the developed sites efficiently outside performance, into a scaeable business model?

How do we make the business transportable? Pirates of auckland isn’t very good for that!

Online retail, we need 100 products up there, it will take forever and require administration every week waiting for it to build to a critical mass. It’s a great idea for building goodwil and a platform for future music business but we have to wait and analyse more before being confident about this, otherwise we ill make incremental forays and see how they go.

With talent and entertainment there is no short way to serious revenue and income until I come up with a plan. I think we have to accept that we can only work on these as we enjoy them. But that wasn’t the point of this exercise!

With talent we need to get at least one client who is regular. We need that client to be strong enough to leverage, so once we have one leveragable client, we expand from there. So we need to meet with rachel, and continue fishing.

With entertainment it comes back to the newsletter, we really only are executing our usual online marketing strategies on our self, and I’m not really committed to producing quality content for a newsletter so that is unlikely to happen within 6 months.

With online marketing, we need to get an assistant who will cover all online marketing, video marketing, graphic design, etc. I can’t be bothered with all the work it entails so I need a secretary who does my bidding. I really like this model, possibly even going to 2 assistants, it’s just that it will be quite intensive, but with 2-3 half day sessions a week a lot would get a lot done.

So action paths for new strategies:

– get new assistant for all online marketing, onine retail, video, and design
– revisit advertising strategies
– develop pirate website
– talent – wait for foundation client
– entertainment, wait for some kind of breakthrough
– shop – wait for opportunity

In our business, the ladders are video production and entertainment to take us into future satisfaction, and we will have a plan should a shop become viable. Here is a short list of the format our auckland business services shop in grey lynn or newton would follow for set up:

– move all our stuff and set up cd / dvd duplication
– set up postering and cheap colour printing price boards and systems
– set up retailing and negotiate with suppliers
– music retail of client products and vinyl
– consider, food, hospitality
– take a community approach to considering how we can work with other businesses in the immediate area

With online marketing I will continue to respond in order to meet my modest targets, as long as I meet the target, I will not develop these concepts specifically unless of short term benefit.

Finally, talent, and online retail become snakes without a plan of attack – they just become tacked on where possible to other ideas to pave the way – such as the shop.

Entertainment will be a struggle to make profitable but it doesn’t need to be intensely value producing. We need to look at where we can improve the unimaginative strategies we are currently using.

New Business Plans – Printing, Promotion, Video, Auckland

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

The business plan for our promotions and marketing business in 2011 is to grow slowly and confidently, meet our modest targets and hopefully have a surplus with which to cover as many debts as possible and some investment into more tools to make day to day business smoother and more stress free than ever.

We’ve just got our numbers back and it’s great news because we’re only a little short of our projected last revision, and the number is still great. Whether it will provide a complete buffer for the down season as well as pay for a few upgrades remains to be seen, it didn’t quite cross over from great to just stupid, it stopped short of being more money than I know what I’ll be doing with it, so still, excellent. But because forecasts tend to be optimistic and we’re passing through one of the tougher times of the year, immediately proceeding christmas, I think we can look forward to returning to a prediction that we will be making surpluses that are strong indicators that growth is at an optimum of potential, within a few months.

I also feel confident we’ll bounce back quickly into the year within a few months and I’ll have renewed energy to know we aren’t coming off a major financial setback, in terms of cash, we’re fine.

If things continue like this we will definitely be expanding into a shop and other new ventures as set out.

I just expect at least 2 months until business returns, and possibly 3, so if opportunities form, it’s good to be confident heading in, knowing you have the cash to back yourself going in and the confident to make it work if things don’t go so well.

We’ll be stocking up on supplies, we’ll be increasing advertising spend.

What other expansion directions to we have? We know we have to improve websites, and update our videos as we’ve planned.

New Media Duplication: Video, Talent, Entertainment, Retail

Saturday, January 1st, 2011

Right now we’re just using some time to go over our future plans for business, mainly because in our wisdom we realise all true opportunities to grow our business in terms of value revolve around cd duplication, dvd copying and cd dvd replication services, in auckland, new zealand and looking to provide the cheapest prices in Australia also.

Look at our goals – what is most likely to take us there?

Only music marketing and pirates are there. They are the only new ideas that are actually doing trade.

Which means when it comes to video production and video services, talent, entertainment and online retail, it’s not going to happen unless I have a plan.

Do I have a plan for this?

I know that if I am consistently earning more than the modest goal I have pegged out for myself in 2011, then we will be going forward with a shop.

Video production
will also be at the front of my thoughts but we don’t have a plan possibly because a plan might stretch across, video, talent, entertainment and retail. How do these ideas interact and create new possibilities for a more efficient business model and service?

With entertainment I just plan to keep going until I get some encouraging signs or some other inspiration to lift my game because I think it’s irresponsible to rely on this as an income activity. An income just provides a reassuring bonus.

So shouldn’t the others be the same? Talent and Online retail? Do these things because you enjoy them, not because you rely on the income? Yes it means entertainment will come first because I enjoy it.

Pirates and music marketing remain in a neutral space.

If we do well we put it into video production and we angle in on the shop. We can’t do the shop, right now so what do we do?

We’re looking forward to video production and building entertainment now, while keeping eyes open and ideas flowing for the shop. I think if we get a chance to jump into a space in auckland for all our video, cd dvd duplication, talent, retail, the works.

And after thinking about it some more I realised there were deeper reasons why I needed to converge entertainment brands for both personal enjoyment and additional income, although very low compared to what I usually make from my other businesses, but learning to make my creative industries viable and profitable is part of the challenge of validation.

If I accept this is not about profit, it’s easy to justify doing something that has little impact and is therefore a wasted opportunity. I may not push entertainment

Entertainment basically covers writing blogs, making videos and other content for purposes other than directly advertising my core businesses.

The advertising money I get from blogging is considered entertainment income, as would sales of my music, and income from a newsletter.

If you had 10,000 visitors per day, I could make enough to be happy, I just want to make a grand extra each month, I’d be happy with that supplement. If you got 10,000 people on your newsletter and 1000 of them chose to view a 50c ad, you could make $500.

One thing with blogging though is all the sites I’m working on don’t really have great keywords they’re all kind of brands, and I think this is a mistake.

It’s all the blogs such as my graphic design and video production sites that are getting the hits – well y’know – I spend hours on my entertainment brand sites and various branded sites and yet I spend no time on sites such as video production, graphic design, even the music marketing one, and still get about a quarter of the result, and you know that the advertising money on those sites would be much better.

In fact I need to start blogging on the cheap video production site.

So in conclusion

Ladders are video production and entertainment to take us into future satisfaction, and we will have a pan should a shop become viable.
