The same principals in marketing apply to many start up sites, property or otherwise

A video makes more sense considering you don’t have to support it in anyway once it’s implemented, and gives you a front on youtube as a bonus. Youtube is only just beginning to be tapped for it’s potential by people working in property.

I push the youtube video because net users instinctively know that a youtube video is to be played and watched, so you’re keeping your visitors immediate attention.

It would cost more than a static design – looking at $200-400 depending on what you want, but I think it would add far more value to your site.

Adwords is usually my best offering in marketing but I suspect in that area it would be intensely competitive in property. I would probably suggest a blog so you can build search rankings long term for every suburb you’re working. The issue is either you write it and it takes hours out of your week, or someone else writes and it’s not cheap. Though it’s better to have a dozen articles backing on to your site than nothing.

Who’s your target? Privates sales? Property professionals? Maybe you need to start with a really narrow target to focus how you use these tools.

Because I work mainly with musicians I’m very cynical of social media (been there, done that). Unless you’re showing up with a big commitment to giving people something really special – well it’s hard work getting results any way you go about it.

To me I think youtube is yet the most unexploited platform, because it’s a natural fit for property, and there’s still plenty of people working in property who haven’t twigged to how effective it can be.

Just some thoughts.

Another Auckland Printing, CD DVD Copying Blog Post

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Check out the deals in New Zealand on auckland printing, CD and DVD copying – free delivery, free set up, no hidden costs!

Back with Matt and Kurb right now talking about a how lot of intermediate marketing strategy – my business is going well, what now? Well I do a lot of blogging.

Blogging is a specific strategy for a specific situation. It’s by no means radical. It’s awesome thrashing out ideas, getting your head around new opportunities, but you’re also building up search authority. The single term that brings the most people to this website is “auckland” probably because auckland, along with the other services we offer in New Zealand is something I mention often, blogging, updating . . . and so then to ranking higher in google for “auckland”

If I really started to step up my act here, maybe I might get inbound links that since linking to my main site, world give me a great seo boost. How to write linkbait though is a very complicated matter.

Is blogging worth it? Is blogging always the best way to market your site on a miniscule budget?

My SEO continues to improve and I can’t honestly say that that’s not because I don’t blog here mentioning all the important words about auckland cd duplication replication and cheap auckland printing – it’s particularly these phrases I am beginning to get more organic search results for, and I don’t see my competitors putting in the same effort.

That’s all well and good but does that mean I’m getting the best return on my time? Well blogging is an enjoyable as well as affordable option but also, I’m slowly cultivating my skills as a writer.

But in comparison for opportunity cost – it’s the adwords dilemma. I spend at least 10 hours blogging a week, does that provide more results than spending an extra $50 on google? Probably not. I’m not even making myself worth $5 an hour. So with what we’re working on now, how can we get smarter?

Is the content war just pushing sludge? That pushing second rate content as a means to boost the authority by which you can sell to people, when really, top content that grabs people is what you need?

What you need is what will sell high value services to people – in my case cheap auckland printing, CD and DVD copying, and possible other stuff I’m bringing in – video marketing etc.

In this context an adwords ad is considered “top” because of it’s relevance to my target.

But in real terms – If I don’t blog I get half a day back a week. If I ramp up my adwords, realistically, we’re talking about $30, I don’t even know what spending $80 would be like.

I think when I do a pro photoshoot I will set up a branding campaign that links straight to a video of me and start doing the whole Michael Hill or Mad Butcher thing where I begin to build trust and familiarity just by people knowing the brand and associating me with it – it’s a powerful tool because your brand is no longer faceless, there’s a person with a reputation behind it that can be trusted.

But . . . I could bump up my advertising, and keep blogging, but my commitment is to match the additional $50 I’d be spending each week. But if my sales went up then . . . well perhaps blogging is an independent sign I should be spending more to get more work. This is the thing, If I get one decent job it’s worth paying for. What is the reverse?

I spend $50 a week I don’t need to? How would I even know? We could have spent $100 on advertising this month for cd dvd copying, but only a handful of jobs are likely to have come in from it. I think if you’re spending $100 p/week on advertising and it’s not working, then you have to refine. But looking at the cheap auckland printing spend, just $25 has definitely got me a few jobs that have led to that spend being worthwhile, I’m just reluctant to increase my spending because the jobs don’t have very high margins, and often require answering a lot of questions, calculating quotes,

But long term, there will always be a need for printing even in 8 years when there won’t be for CD’s and I’ll still be putting up posters then to! So I think it’s an importnant investment in my brand, even just spending $25 to let 74 people know my cheap auckland copying and colour printing website exists is worthwhile, even though only a dozen contact me and it’s only eventuated in perhaps about 3 sales.

I have been spending more, and yes, the overall trend has been more business, but the last 3 weeks I have spent a lot and haven’t received much business – relatively. Still by no means as quiet as this time last year. So patience may be involved.

We don’t actually want to do the pirate birthdays, auckland wedding videos, video production, consulting now and doing tours, trying to get paid for gigs, trying to have a big enough back catalogue you actually sell some music. That’s a lot of work, in 2015 it’s supposed to be $800 p/week. But remember in the past I’ve earned $600 or more online, it’s just I’m not as active in that role as I once was, and I’m trying to repeat the success of our cheap cd dvd duplication and auckland cd replication services which has been such a winner.

It does get a little bit daunting to think I will have to get into this stuff if I’m going to maintain my lifestyle long term, because it does nag that cd dvd copying won’t last forever and I’ve got about 5 years to find something else to do. 5 years ago however, I wasn’t doing any CD’s or DVD copying.

There are plenty of ideas but they require that I have some support in the labour dept. There’s a reason this is at the top. Getting an assistant means less work for me and being able to commit to a job, or more jobs which may be boring knowing someone will take care of the tedious bits.

But like the shop the assistant is on hold, I’m waiting for a real opportunity to arise.

– brochure: Yes a brochure falls under the adwords dilemma, but it’s a key part of many things we’re working on to become sustainable long term. our classifieds and online retail is not about making money it’s about building the long term brand of kurb so that no matter where we go, in 5 – 20 years our brand is associated with good service. new videos / sites: As they are it works, in the future we need to be making the improvements we require now

the brochure is also a part of the photoshoot for new branding tools online also.

More ideas include music business related content, our pirate birthday party entertainment again can be covered by google if I really want to push it but I guess right now it’s the balance between cd dvd duplication / cd replication auckland and cheap printing auckland against our future video production, auckland wedding videos, and entertainment brands.

So right now I need to finish this brochure, the rest are not actual issues that need to be solved now or won’t be solved later by advertising and a bit of motivation. shops, assistants, Classifieds, new sites, new videos, just let them happen.

Discount Promotions, Cheap Auckland Services

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

For kurb promotions, cheap cd dvd duplication and replication services as well cheap printing, copying and photocopying services we offer in auckland and new zealand are our main business right now, but we’re also developing video production work including auckland wedding video company and our music retail concept, almost like a music club come branding exercise.

We use this blog as a launching space for that to happen. Ideas such as classifieds on trademe etc., brochure concept hiring an assistant for video and marketing in auckland are all thrown around. Now that I have joined bartercard I am thinking of new cd and dvd products to launch toward this market of mainly small business owners. There are a lot of different possibilities that could exist but I will be patient to see what comes in. If we’re selling $100 worth of products p/week and doing $1000 worth of jobs p/month we may have to examine how much we’re spending compared with value but I’m sure we can get inventive, when that point arrives.

Selling products on the auction site seems even better because of the huge margins if we can produce a CD for $1 and sell it for $10 in barter, being able to sell a few of those each week will boost the fairly limited online sales.

Blogging is a funny thing though. It’s awesome because you’re not only thrashing out ideas, familiarising yourself with different opportunities, but while you’re doing that you’re building up your website’s google search authority by including all the content in their indexes. But is it worth it? It certainly as easy and non commital way to get an edge over your competition. Are your competition ready to spare an hour a day to blog?

For me it’s the adwords dilemma. I spend at least 10 hours blogging a week, does that provide more results than spending an extra $50 on google? Probably not. I’m not even making myself worth $5 an hour. So with what we’re working on now, how can we get smarter?

– assistant: there’s a reason this is at the top. Getting an assistant means less work for me and being able to commit to a job, or more jobs which may be boring knowing someone will take care of the tedious bits.

– brochure: Yes a brochure falls under the adwords dilemma, but it’s a key part of many things we’re working on to become sustainable long term.

– classifieds: our classifieds and online retail is not about making money it’s about building the long term brand of kurb so that no matter where we go, in 5 – 20 years our brand is associated with good service.

– new videos / sites: As they are it works, in the future we need to be making the improvements we require now

More ideas include music business related content, our pirate birthday party entertainment again can be covered by google if I really want to push it but I guess right now it’s the balance between cd dvd duplication / cd replication auckland and cheap printing auckland against our future video production, auckland wedding videos, and entertainment brands.

We don’t actually want to do the pirate birthdays, auckland wedding videos, video production, consulting. Doing tours, trying to get paid for gigs, trying to have a big enough back catalogue you actually sell some music. That’s a lot of work, in 2015 it’s supposed to be $800 p/week. sheesh. Come on – one gig, one wedding, one birthday party you could do it in a day.

If the switch that is anticipated in 3-8 years occurs, we need to throw down our online marketing campaigns, but that won’t work nearly as well as if we’ve been giving out brochures, using trademe to build our brand, have a shop etc.

We seem to be back on a business upswing which is funny because this is the hardest I’ve been working in months. my new approach is gentle and soft development, no bombasitc plans, just careful analysis of slight improvement and choosing which moment could present the opportunity to step up and the real advantages.

Online marketing over retail. Branding over retail.

But where is music social and where can it be incorporated into a valuable experience that can be profited from – it’s about music revenue, music income and music profit! the assistant obvious as well as classifieds, the brochure, the cycle of sites / videos / adwords, and finally our new idea to take this blog to a serious music newsletter rather than opting for any kind of shop that’s just going to cost me more rent.

I wrote for so long about all kinds of stuff, all the business services and enterprises I could set up, but I reasoned only the ones that had the highest margins were worthwhile. With a high margin your less likely to come to grief. With the auckland music newsletter, it’s not the revenue that appeals but the saving in cost. A shop will add $300+ to my expenses. A blog adds nothing but the time I put in. Which is significant. With a shop you pay your money and people walk in.

So once I have a decent shop I can generate the walk ins with ads, $100 buys a lot of targeted advertising. That’s often a problem, I launch the websites but they’re so poor and with no video back up, it’s not worth launching into full advertsing. That covers a serious amount of my tasks right now.

I was more taking a long lens approach to the cd dvd replication and cd dvd reproduction in australia, and the cheap auckland wedding videos, identify the service and the market, set up the webpage, set up the online adwords campaign, do a video for the page, improve the design.

I would be pushing my entertainment brands and video production, video marketing, cheap auckland wedding video service but the websites look to poor. Even the cheap auckland printing site isn;t really up to scratch and has an old video in it. Maybe I need to network more with a savvy web developer who is interested in music culture.

I guess it’s all about the risk and reward.

Cheap Printing – Brochure and Flyer Printing, Design Auckland

NEED CHEAP AUCKLAND PRINTING AND PHOTOCOPYING? HIGH QUALITY FLYERS, BROCHURES, GRAPHIC DESIGN FAST/URGENT?

FREE DELIVERY IN AUCKLAND / NEW ZEALAND: Email: kurbpromo@gmail.com

Here on the kurb blog I still use this space to work through new ideas, they’re steps to move my business forward, they may be the right step for you too. It means I can continue to build the google ranking authority of my site by adding new original writing also. Blogging is an easy and cheap way to create attention, if your casual about it or your project is not long term, it may not be the most suitable for creating an avalanche of leads but it is effective over time none the less.

I think once you’re more experienced in business, you learn not to be so hopeful and a little more realistic and so it’s hard to come up with ideas that have real promise. That’s why we are working on the brochure – it may not be that ambitious but at least we know it’s a good idea.

We’re also looking for an assistant to help us particularly with our cheap video production services

I’m working on a brochure that I can use in any situation to make people aware of all the things I can do for them. The brochure we’re working on for kurb promotions is designed to let people using one of our services know about our other services, but we’re focusing in general on all activities we want to expand. Keeping CD DVD duplication and repication going, keeping the cheap printing we offer in auckland and new zealand going, and adding our video services to that.

In might seem pretty straight forward to put a brochure together, but the more work you put into it, the more benefit you’ll receive and the longer you’ll be able to exploit it, maybe making minor changes, before you scrap the thing and start from scratch.

Customer service and trust is so huge. To me, I see some of the clients I work with and I can see a major factor is they trust me. To make clients with whom you have already built trust aware of other services you could provide is sensible because the trust and familiarity is such a big factor.

If I’ve already done CD or DVD duplication for a client they will often get printing done, but they won’t necessarily know that we also offer video, websites, graphic design, pirate parties and whatever else!

Also with the trademe and classifieds strategies we’re going to be sending out orders to random clients everywhere, often they are rural and to be made aware of all the printing and discs and other deals we offer will make the trademe enterprise more worthwhile, it’s in essence a branding exercise – increasing trust and awareness in kurb promotions – but it may generate a low 3 figure weekly income as a bonus.

But we need an attractive flyer design and all the prices laid out, some nice pictures and some copywriting too.

CD / DVD duplicating / CD / DVD replicating services
cheap printing and photocopying – auckland poster placement
video production services – the $495 package shifting to the $595 package.
pirate entertainers + DJ services / entertainment brands
budget online marketing:
$295 website
$295 youtube video
$295 newsletter/blog/press release combo
$295 advertising set up and campaign
$995 all of the above!

So the brochure lay out will be 6 panels on 2 sides

panel 1: cover
panel 2+3: CD DVD duplication and replication
panel 4: cheap printing + posters
panel 5: video
panel 6: online marketing and pirates

Each one needs a picture, a blurb, some special prices. I’m not sure I will put ALL our prices on there, just enough to give a good indication. People with crazies questions are going to have questions no matter how much information you put. It’s about establishing ourselves as cheap and reliable, and present some really tight specials.

So photography is a big part there of what’s required because we need professional pictures as well as professional design. Then I can put together the text and pictures and give it over to a designer to play with, I willl probably use a few stock photos but I need at least one picture of myself so I can really get the trust factor happening.

So we’re talking in auckland, new zealand: I’ve also joined bartercard which I think will be excellent for my business. If you need bartercard printing, bartercard video, bartercard CD’s check out kurb promotions. I’m not sure how much extra business it will generate, but I don’t think I’ll have any trouble spending it!

More Progress in Auckland Services: Bartercard, Music on Trademe, Brochures

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Hi this is Matt from Kurb Promotions in auckland, I write on this blog – well originally I just used to throw up posts because blogging is a sensational way to get noticed and taken seriously by google, which can bring tyou a whole lot of traffic. Then I used as a tool to throw around ideas and it’s been great because some ideas really have to be worked over before they’re ready to become something workable.

Kurb specializes in the cheapest CD Duplication, DVD duplication, CD replication and DVD replication services in New Zealand and Australia. We also offer cheap auckland printing and photocopying services. We’re also moving into video production services and developing entertainment brands.

Our main new ideas come from bartercard and trademe. As we expand we are acquiring a new staff member, and I feel ready to tackle the idea of a brochure I can use to let people know about all our services.

The brochure is designed to let people using one of our services no about our other services, but we’re only focusing on general stuff.

So we’re talking in auckland, new zealand:

CD / DVD duplicating / CD / DVD replicating services
cheap printing and photocopying – auckland poster placement
video production services – the $495 package shifting to the $595 package.
pirate entertainers + DJ services / entertainment brands
budget online marketing:
$295 website
$295 youtube video
$295 newsletter/blog/press release combo
$295 advertising set up and campaign
$995 all of the above!

On trademe we’re now selling CD’s and DVD’s because it’s a safer way to get into online retailing and hopefully the assistant will come in and manage the whole thing, I’ll just add products. We’re selling 2 compilations and a mix cd for $15, the cost to me will be about a $1 for this in particular but it’s not a common case. I will definitely go for bundles. 2 cd’s cost $1.60 to produce, and I’ll sell for $15, I don’t know what fees are I’m hoping the profit is $13.70 as I say, just have to sell 10 a week, 9 even and it would be worthwhile.

A band could sell for $10, and receive $5 barter from us. But it’s not about the trademe business. It’s about establishing a market. Whether we go physical retail or direct is entirely circumstantial, we gather a market and then we can sell to them. I am half expecting that this blog will grow to be a part of the apparatus serving that market.

Firstly, we can mail them the brochure we’re planning, so they then become aware of our cd dvd duplication, our cheap auckland printing and photocopying services, and cd replication services, our video production services and our entertainment brands, we lay deals out for them and possibilities, compelling reasons why to choose our service.

Then of course we have established a market for music. If every time we put out a CD 500 people will buy it, We only need put out a CD each month and push it. You see when we do 500 duplicate CD’s we make about $400, but if we make $5 of each one, we make $2500. That’s $2000 p/month, that’s not shabby.

– soon we’ll be accepting bartercard for the following services:

– CD DVD duplication / CD DVD replication
– online marketing / small business marketing
– video production
– cheap colour printing

Email: kurbpromo@gmail.com

So I’ve gone ahead now and joined Bartercard and so far it’s looking pretty good. Since I discovered my mechanic is already in there, I was stoked.

At the moment, I’m bracketed to be making an extra $1500 p/month through bartercard.

Bars in town include: Grand Central and Basement

Local Cafes / Eateries include: Okra, Icoco, Euro Cafe, Noodle Canteen, Satya, Tusk

Carpet Cleaning, Dry Cleaning (st Lukes and Grey Lynn), Costume Hire, Locksmiths, Dentists, Skincare, Massage

95bfm if I wanted to promote an event

I figure that between restaurants and the mechanic I’ll use $100 p/week at least and doing this or that for the business and house and stuff will be the next $100, if I make any more, I’ll just blow it on myself. But it would be good to build up a surplus so I when I went away I could spend up on it.

I think there are certain aspects to our business that really dispose it towards the bartercard model, let me just list a few of those:

– TARGET MARKET – the cd and dvd duplication and dvd / replication – burning, printing, reproduction, pressing, manufacturing – all that kind of thing that we do – is a service mainly directed toward other businesses – business that are “b2b” that mainly serve other businesses rather than private customers are best suited to barter because we haver services that are in demand by the businesses that use bartercard.

– LOCATION – we’re based in central auckland – covering sandringham, balmoral, mt. eden, grey lynn, three kings, mt. roskill, mt. albert, pt. chev, avondale, ponsonby, k rd, symonds street, westmere, penrose, onehunga, new windsor, st. lukes, western springs, kingsland, newmarket, that covers a lot of businesses who will use us and we can use them. if we were out in the wops, then it would harder for us to provide our service to other users, and it means we are close to many restaurants and businesses we wouldn’t and couldn’t use otherwise.

BUSINESS STRUCTURE – I am the one who stands to benefit from this, I am aware that the bartercard for me will be about treating myself – debt collectors, panel beaters, tailors and drycleaners, restaurants, massages etc., a lot of these things are treats, or things I would deliberate over spending money on but not if I had a grand to spend on it every month, because I think that’s where I’ll be aiming. I don’t think the actual on paper profits will be significant but I’ll have a pool I can dip into for little boost ups.

– CAPACITY – I could easily handle another $1000 worth of business per week. Sure I’d have to jack up my operation a little, and be working hard again,

– REVENUE STRUCTURE our margins on cd / dvd duplication and cd / dvd replication are good, which means that a whole lot of orders coming through is not going to be a drag. Imagine if we were doing $1000 p/week in barter, which was costing me $500. Having to find $950 to spend my barter dollars on each week. Wow, now that would be interesting. I don’t see how it would be bad, or how I would be making more sales to bartercard people than direct revenue but it’s worthwhile considering.
