PROMOTIONS STAFF WANTED – CASUAL – SHORT TERM – WORK AND STAY – WOOFER – AUCKLAND CITY

KURBPROMO@GMAIL.COM

These days in business I want to put my own interests before just doing whatever will make money. What am I doing?

My own music, gigs, tours, event management in auckland and touring new zealand
Models and talent crossing over to event management
Crossing over to NYL/cohort/youtube creator channel / video production
Pirate themed kids entertainment

But I need to hire someone who can take over running the business, and then expand into helping me with my projects.

So you need to be able to do all the kurb jobs, doing cd dvd duplication – dvd cd printing, copying and putting together the CD’s ad DVD’s doing the photoshop for them with the slow not-so-onto-it customers, you need to drive to the printers and back to pick up the printing and you need to do the emails, as well as the cd/dvd supplier but its all within 5 minutes drive.

I want you to take over my job, and I’ll become your client!

Eventually I would want someone full time who can both run the business and be my manager on these exciting new projects I am investing into.

I think at first I would have to do all sales and all emails. The next step is adding a day to each job, or charging an urgent fee, so im not under any pressure as long as the assistant gets it done within a few days.

NEW ASSISTANT PRODUCTION SCHEDULE

Check print jobs > call print shop (I have to send print jobs)
Check disc jobs / Check packaging > Collect discs and cases
Package discs
Collect Printing / Packaging / Do Deliveries + Postage (I need to provide addresses and contacts)
Finish Packaging / Arrange Deliveries and Pick Ups.

So in the beginning, you can pay someone less than $500 to do that job and then when they are able to handle the sales and the bookings etc. bump up their pay to say $700 or even $800 once theyre really flying. Someone who actually does a good job could do that in 30 hours.

We said at $3k i would be backing off and at $4k I would be looking at full removal, but really, that’s overshooting by $1k. At $2k we’re ready to back off, at $3k we’re fully stepping out and looking for an apartment to hide in. Like we said, that could easily be 3 months away.

See this is the progression I was looking for, to see how rising income would lead to more established assistance which then removes me from that focus and I’m looking at other stuff.

So the answer to the question is actually $3k. At $3k I would still be involved with kurb, but fading to the point at which by $4k, I would be left doing very little other than checking in once a week and doing the odd trouble shoot.

Last week was actually the most profitable week we’ve ever had, but I don’t see this trending up being sustainable, but what it does show is life still left in the business, and for the very first time,

I am really thinking of a new business model not just for kurb but also for the gigs where I set the managing person up with $10k and let them go. The employee takes their wages and the rent gets paid, and if there’s not money left over, then we’ve got a situation where there’s question marks.

either the employee is incompetent or the system is incompetent or incorrect.

For my own personal development I need to know where the pirates stop. It won’t. I will always do pirates. Even if you’re making $5k? yes. I don’t know where it will go but I will do it. There will be some ads, and there will be a role for the manager, and as I said, if I set up the $10k accounts that should give me a good supply of gigs because that means I have 3 people trying to get decent gigs for me.

These are concepts that will slowly emerge over 6 months.

But how many pirate shows and gigs do you want? Well it needs more thought as we head into it.

The directory has stopped, it may not start. These new ideas about the set up I’m experiencing say that there will be no directory, it offers nothing. I can still do it if I want to.

So I thought if I wanted to do everything . . . well how much does everything cost?

Well, it starts with a manager person. The manager person manages DJ gigs, pirate gigs, indie gigs, work for the models, and helps organise the parties, helps organise the talent, and the directory. The right hand woman. Then we need a video production person who shoots and edits the videos – pirate videos, music videos, youtube videos. We may need a odesk web person mainly for web design, our man ibnul, and of course various other editing and design tasks.

But I mean why do you need to pay $1600+ a month to get to play? That’s ridiculous. I’m beginning to see that paying someone to do that job is not going to happen. Paying people for individual jobs, well, yes. Building up the cohort with interns and talent and then paying them? yes. interns. Make it so.

It’s all fine until you get to the top tier tasks – agent tasks, calling up and doing bookings and contracts etc., and the video editing after that. But then consider that doing manager / agent type stuff won’t be required until next year we’re building them up slowly

I need to get a grip on how well the dvd duplication is going right now, we have had 2 of our biggest weeks ever on the trot, and I am blown away.

I have to really think about the implications, that for the first time, the reality that the business may last longer than me. In a few years I may be totally over it.

The future of the business now depends on bringing people in. If I can’t bring people in, around $4k there’s going to be weirdness, mind you I’d say the weirdness starts earlier than that. There has to be someone to step in making business moves, this I would say is at least a year away.

On the other side here will be this point, probably for the rest of the year where I am doing well, but I have plenty of funds already allocated yet it’s too early for the apartment and this is all cohort and video money, pretty much.

But my recruitment strategy is now based prinicpally on providing short term accommodation, and hoping of all the people that come through, one will hang around for a few months to head the operation, or somehow, from the available pool, their will be a head person who will dedicate a couple of hours or more a day to organising the work, hoping there is a couple of people around to actually do it, and hoping that leaves me with little more than a few hours to put in a couple of times a week.

But I can’t really have that many people until I leave. So it is all about either leaving asap, or having transitional measures.

We are transitioning out of working on the business, and then it’s at a point where if the people I have to replace me are no longer interested in committing to it, then I am put in a position. Drop what I’m doing to keep my business alive?

Is that the reality? Fly back from overseas? I don’t think I will be out of the country for more than a few weeks at a time.

But yes we have to be ready to let it go. But that will only become more real once I top $2k in weekly trading earnings. Just remember you could leave your business for months, and still resurrect it, but it’s really that these are new emotions, new realities, breaking away from these discs that have been my life for so many years now.

It’s not just suddenly going to change but we have to ask the question again, at what point does it no longer matter?

We know at $3k in weekly trading earnings it will be very hard to stay motivated, but long term, it may be some time before I feel confident relying on trading for an income, probably at least a year.

These numbers, these projections suggest I will hit that level sooner. So I am sliding in carefully, building up a buffer, for another year before we really see whether we keep the business going and whether we stay in NZ.

It still remains that someone would take over here, or it would hibernate.

I just feel that after $3k I am happy to commit my income to paying someone to assist me, even if it ends up being $60k a year for someone really good as unlikely as it could be. Whether I find someone who could fly solo is another question. They would have to be here living it. That’s the whole point.

I Need A Auckland Talent Manager

Sunday, October 19th, 2014

ARE YOU A TALENT MANAGER? ARE YOU TALENT LOOKING FOR A MANAGER?

CONTACT: kurbpromo@gmail.com

I am a talented manager who runs a promotion company, I have money now so I want to find my own manager to manage me and other talent who I’m involved with.

I want you to take over my job, and I’ll become your client!

Now that the promotions business at kurb is moving past this whole profit thing, despite the fact that we continue to offer great services in auckland dvd duplication, cd duplication, cd printing, posters, flyers, video production etc. I am now expanding into areas which are of more personal interest to me.

I am a DJ, I have my own youtube channel, and I am networking and working with lots of talent.

These days I want to put my own interests before just doing whatever will make money. There is consideration worth giving that making money means paying wages to suitably qualified people in rolls, but money will never be the central motivator, because I don’t want to be chained to the money because that’s not my focus. If I become chained to making enough money to pay someone, then I risk simply working and achieving nothing.

I want someone to take over so my only concern is paying them. Put it on them. Say I’m paying you to make it happen. Either make it happen or I find someone else. If I have to do the work, what am I paying for. Subtle distinction.

Working to pay staff, or paying staff not to work. That’s the focus. Seems obvious, but it means your staff actually have to have skills.

What am I doing?

My own music, gigs, tours
Models and talent crossing over to event management
Crossing over to NYL/cohort/youtube video production
Directory
Pirates

So I thought I wanted to do everything. How much does everything cost?

Well, it starts with a manager person. The manager person manages DJ gigs, pirate gigs, indie gigs, work for the models, and helps organise the parties, helps organise the talent, and the directory. The right hand woman.

Then we need a video production person who shoots and edits the videos – pirate videos, music videos, youtube videos.

We may need a odesk web person mainly for web design, our man ibnul, and of course various other editing and design tasks.

What’s our target? 2 pirate per week, 1 dj gig, plus a few tours, then my indie band . . . hmmm. So basically we’re creating this role. When we get to $1400 we can justify it. But that’s not hard at all. And we’re not ready to do these shows. Money is not the way.

But it’s a theoretical exercise, right? For $800 you could make a role for someone to do everything, including run the business. But it’s not practical, because who has the skill set? You’d start people in smaller roles, and develop them.

Also think about it. Getting a 1 pirate gig a week and a dj and indie gig a month plus a tour and this and that, that’s almost achievable on my own aside from the tour. But we need to see a position we can settle in years to come.

Basically booking $1000 worth of pirate shows plus a dj show and a indie show that were decent every month – could this person even exist? We need to create them with money. I mean why do you need to pay $1600+ a month to get to play? That’s ridiculous.

You’re paying someone more than you are actually earning from playing. It’s not ridiculous when you’re trying to get a foothold, but still, it seems like the wrong approach, unsustainable in that you’re not valuing your product.

But then consider that doing manager / agent type stuff won’t be required until next year we’re building them up slowly starting with easy/fun jobs and getting more towards more skilled stuff which I can pay them for.

– photo shoot
– editing photos
– video shoot
– editing videos
– pirate scripting
– pirate adventures
– pirate bookings
– more models
– planning parties / event management

That’s right. Once you get to the party planning and event management stage and have girls moving into doing those jobs they are actually becoming ready to do all the jobs.

So my thought is really that we can’t just say we need $800 or whatever to hire someone to fix all our problems. We can invest weekly in incentives that can slowly build somebody into the roles.

I am just looking at the sources from which these individuals might come.

***

I am thinking of all the changes that are opening up in business due to the fact that I am happy with the profit level and am not really interested in growth simply for the sake of profit.

We still have aims to use the business to create and provide, but provide and creating profits for me is not a purpose for which I would pursue growth. I would pursue growth in order to establish a staff that would make completing all the activities of gigging, pirates, youtube, talent, the directory etc.

But certain situations have completely shifted. I will probably never advertise the promotions business again. But speaking of advertising, it still remains a channel for reinvestment.

Because I have money to reinvestment I have been still putting $25 on adwords focusing on the parts of the business I do want to grow.

It really is becoming focused now on the cohort / intern game. That is where money is heading towards the outcomes I want.

People coming here to help me work and stay motivated on my tasks and that will ride a $200 a week budget to kick off, then probably reviewing up over the next few months as we go. With many projects, we set a budget for spending and see how that works. Often the budget isn’t reached, so we have to increase it to encourage more bold spending moves.

At what stage would I stop the business altogether?

I probably wouldn’t, I would have kurb staying attached to this house or whatever roskillized location im in, and have revolving individuals located here for the purpose of industries. It would make $500, I can pay the rent, I can intall temporary workers and my various henchpersons, touring parties, without them encroaching on my apartment which is my private lair.

By the time I pass $3k, my participation will be in active decline. At $4k we would be paying $500 a week to someone to handle most of the ins and outs.

It’s hitting me not why the intern / cohort situation is so important – we need to start training this person now!

When we cross $1k a week from trading alone, it will become imperative, and we can begin to push the position as a succession role.

I think in a year we want to be paying somebody $800 to run not only kurb, and renfrew as a house, but also the pirate and DJ and talent stuff, to basically be doing it all, and for it all to be neutral so I still survive off my trading and investment income, with no costs such as rent and bills to meet for the business.

Again what do I do? I get informed of any business issues, when big jobs or issues are on, perhaps once or twice a week I will be involved, but it’s mainly being aware of what pirate/dj/indie band/tour/party stuff is going on for the week, and video stuff.

This could be easy. Because if renfrew and the kurb head manager cover the cost of themselves than, im living pretty good on $2k a week. Like, seriously.

It is monday which means there are things to do. There should be.

I am thinking of the poster design, but the main thing we have to do is still video once the cd duplication stuff is moving.

Modelling Work Auckland: Party For Models Wanted

Monday, October 6th, 2014

LOOKING FOR MODELLING EXPERIENCE IN AUCKLAND EMAIL: KURBPROMO@GMAIL.COM

We’ve been doing really well from our main promotions business doing our duplication and printing and I’ve recently looked at new directions for our video production and online content, how we can get more people involved in a positive way, but we’re also totally rethinking our approach to event management and event promotion.

So basically I’m back thinking about the shell of my talent agency because the problem I had before was I was at a total amateur level and I don’t think the talent were very reassured by my approach!

Now I have talent I’m working with producing new content, we’re bringing on technical people, and you’re going to see the quality of the online video production rise dramatically as I focus more on ideas and performances with time freed up since I won’t be editing or having to stress out on filming or editing so much.

I am thinking now of lots of ideas to build the talent brand. I’m thinking I need to be totally upfront with the girls who are interest in modeling jobs and modeling work for the talent agency.

I have to say that I am just starting out, I have experience both in business and directing music videos and photography, but it will take months and I am looking to form working partnerships with people who are prepared to come in and help out with tasks establishing the business, but also benefit from working on these tasks – videos, shoots etc to establish your own material.

Just this stage I have the business resources and basic technical skills, if you have the commitment, then we can match each other to make headway in modelling and promotions.

I just have to be super hard headed about this and say to the talent this is how it is. Come between twelve and whenever and work. We’ll work on my stuff we’ll talk about ideas and then we’ll move to your stuff.

That is my new strategy. Just saying, come to my house, come and go. If you can edit video or do something like that, I can pay you but otherwise we’re just working.

But I know what to do.

We’re working on the editing, look at the editing, then look at the pirate stuff get into the gear, be a pirate/fairy, then tell her to introduce everything we do at the business, talk about cd duplication, dvd duplication, posters, video production, audio production, event management, forex, and of course it’s all tongue and cheek.

It’s with the girls here that I will push forward ideas, because there’s got to always be something to work on, once I’ve got through my stuff, then I’m free.

We can interview the talent.

But now I’m having a better long term goal. In the beginning I pay them, then as their numbers swell . . . they pay me . . .

Just like paris. That seems like a good idea, I might hang onto it, as a long term. We have to stay excited. We pay them, we build the business, we pay someone else to do the the job of managing them instead of paying them, and then we start charging when the business has built to the point someone who came through us cracked it.

My aim of course is to have ready labour and talent for my own videos and then to branch out to parties where dozens of hopeful talent turns up.

It’s also like having a little crew turn up every day to help not only with talent, but the pirates thing, the youtube thing, gigs, the directory even. A little working party.

So what do we need? Websites. The directory, the talent site and NYL sites will need a makeover. When I say advertising the ads will probably focused on building talent and the cohort, not directly advertising my stuff, that comes later. In fact, that is not even a priority.

Part of my changing priorities means dreams like having a youtube following and touring europe as a dj are not big priorities. I want to build my agency and have my own little gigs and tours with my pirate thing, that’s my priority now.

But even though I’m focused on that what will be happening when the talent shows up? We are working on content.

We get them working on helping us to produce content, which might mean convincing their friends to come and learn and help, it’s a whole different approach I’m trying now. I am already advertising, and I’ve got the trademe intern ad idea going also. I’m so desperate I might even kick it off soon.

It just could get me to the point quickly, and the truth is that I need a distraction on top of the distraction of forex, and this could lead me away down a new path where I’m not preoccupied with money or forex, but there are interns everywhere, everyday, forcing me to work on projects.

***

I realised when I levelled up it would be so easy to get a large number of attractive people wanting to work with me, dozens. We needed a way to monetize that so that we can use that money to pay people to manage the situation, to be involved managing video production for those who want modelling work auckland.

That’s when I realised, get these people into a club. I’ve talked about it before, if you can get 50 beautiful women into one club, you shouldn’t have any other problems in life. Have a party.

Sure, the first one or two might have to be free.

The recipe is this, once we’ve got a little posse of talent, send them out to bring 100 people to the club. I will be jumping on star now and all the rest to get another 50 people to the party.

There are so many possibilities, and it’s really up to the talent to push them. I just keep the fire burning by doing the websites, the photos, organising, planning – the hustle itself, to create opportunities, that’s up to the talent.

But we also have these two ideas, the directory, and the modelling opportunity sit in, that I can charge money for.

If models are turning up with $20 and there’s several of them, then great. Is that really sustainable though? Only if you have a higher level in house they can aspire too, but at this stage aren’t we already having the parties, shooting proper music vids, doing youtube vids, and even the NYL show? We’ve got our main girls in the NYL show and they supervise the new up and comers, who pay to be there, who pay to get their faces flowing through our channnel?

Then there’s the directory. Basically my goal was to try and keep it to say 20? make it exclusive? Charge them $20 a week each?

Well start on $10 a week, then when you get to 20, an exclusive club, you offer new features and start bumping it up, knowing you’ll lose some. But wow, once you were getting $2-300 a week it would already be a good little earner. Again, any of these things that actually earn only prove how worthwhile they are doing because it’s not about profits and making more money, it’s about cool projects that help change my life.

Auckland Video Production Intern Strategy

Saturday, October 4th, 2014

Looking for a video production / video editing position?

Auckland media internship

Auckland video production internship

Auckland music industry internship

For work experience / apprenticeship with some pay

CONTACT KURBPROMO@GMAIL.COM

Okay so on the kurb blog I just write about business approaches to my media and promotions projects, mainly because I’ve been quietly successful with my cd dvd duplication and printing and postering services we offer and gunning for big big profits isn’t really my interest any more.

My interest is creative projects, community projects, media projects and growing the capacity of my business to handle growing projects that are exciting to work on.

I’d really like to find some interns to start working on cool stuff while learning about media production, online media, entertainment. Profit is not the main goal, our profit are adequate, we want exciting challenges to take forward in auckland promotion projects.

And so what could possibly be the next chapter?

Well first it was the promotions company copying DVD and CD Duplication auckland, then we got into investments, and when the investments paid off we decided to look into a personnel driven solution to expanding to meet our objectives.

The ideas we have that we want to follow through with are

– Kid’s Pirates Shows
– Talent Agency
– Services Directory
– Video Production working on cheap music videos etc.
– Youtube Channel with the Cohort
– Band
– DJ Event management
– Tour Management

These are not profit objectives, I’m already into investment, the main purpose of our business now is to create meaningful industry through promotions and promotional material not just CD and DVD duplication, but online video also.

My reward is not money. I have money. The money generated pays the people coming on board. I just simply steer my vision of what I can make work, the business is a conduit form my ideas interacting with youth intern work, and they are getting the money and I am seeing my ideas grow.

So I need interns who want to do the work.

So the point that we got to was recognising we need more hands to the pumps, but we don’t have any pumps!

It’s all very well to say you’re going to employ people to do jobs and build your empire, but that doesn’t help if you know nothing about building an empire.

I’m really motivated to get people in here but what will they do? Well get some video editing done. Learn with me, shoot stuff, shoot stuff on our list,

The drill is we need to find someone, and find them jobs to do, and supervise.

Supervise what exactly? Video editing. Edit all the videos all the time. Then get talent in, shoot them / shoot with them . . .

WAIT.

When you’re developing business strategy for video production you’re drawing a line from where we are now to a point which we can envision. How do we want it not just to be but how does it work?

In the future how does my pirate and NYL thing work?

One person, or multiple people who edit the videos, help me shoot them, manage and organise pirate gigs and help with promotion, as well as the directory, and managing the talent.

I just find out where the pirate gigs are, and I have a plan for a shooting a skit, I do my forex, and sales. My focus is on shooting one skit or piece a week, making sales, and forex, and showing up for pirates is what I do that happens around my plan of the shoot or any gigs. Once that’s all done I have the chance to meet new interns or talent and look at them.

What are we thinking? $20 for 20 hours, $400, plus an apprentice. 12 hours for $150. I’d like to get that under $500.

We don’t really have a grasp of what that labour would do at that rate. There would have to be more to do, so much like our spending and earning we have to appraise the torque.

Initially we want $200 to pay 2 interns for 6-8 hours. Video editing mainly, but we want someone who can eventually manage pirate stuff, and promote, and deal with talent, which may involve converting them to new interns, fostering interns everywhere – the cohort – until a clear person arises who will get $200 on their own for 12 hours work.

12 hours work we’re still talking mainly video editing and organising odesk. There may be extra shooting, or extra projects attached to work. This is where the role starts to expand.

By the time we get to $500 we’re shooting every week, we’re doing client videos, we’re doing pirate parties, perhaps NYL gigs, we need to generate an extra $300 to pay them, and it sounds so full on I’d expect some too. But we’re in the position now with all of this. We don’t need to earn.

But this is WHY we write about this stuff on kurb promotions.

Generating the work means I can pay the people, and we can work together on projects that are meaningful that I couldn’t handle on my own.

So whats the takeaway? Video editing is the main job, everything else we are merely building out, and we need to get on odesk for ourselves and make things happen.

But what can we do? We’ve written these things down. Odesk. Cohort. Trademe $169 job ad.

What more can we do? Ain’t nothing to it, but to do it!

Push these projects out of the way so that you can

But also I’m thinking I need to be totally upfront with the girls who are interest in modeling jobs and modeling work for the talent agency.

IDEAS FOR VIDEO EDITING PRODUCTION ASSISTANT JOBS LISTING AUCKLAND:

Basically I run a small and modest and yet surprisingly successful promotions business.

This is great but it really gets in the way of my dreams to develop my youtube videos, and also my already established childrens entertainment and event promotion enterprises, building up more content and engagement through videos on youtube and similar sites.

At the moment I’m mainly focused on having fun and working on different styles of video – music videos, vlogs, comedy skits, kids entertainment material – and later I would like to use that as a basis to expand into offering these services to clients.

I already have good skills and knowledge in online marketing I just need support in video production.

FOREX FUN UPDATE

Sometimes forex is super boring and nothing happens, for hours and hours, now that we are familiarising ourselves with all the patterns, then we can get with it. It will require less close supervision.

I am not worried about what will happen when I’m asleep, and so I am happy to leave it for a few hours if I need to.

I’m still learning, I have to be humble, I was foolish enough to think that somehow I knew something others who studied this didn’t. I have to be respectful of the fact that someone in my position can earn a second income this way, without getting greedy and trying to make it your first income.

I am still learning things every day but the speed of learning has decelerated another notch. I still believe within a few weeks we will have the ability to earn more, but we don’t want to attempt to earn larger amounts until we’ve been settled in a few months because the more I learn about the parameters the more I see the sneaky ways you can end up in trouble by assuming your system works, even just to make a few hundred dollars a day.

I’m not specifically sure why I’m talking about forex here but this is my business blog and the whole idea is about making promotion happen with money and making money happen with promotion and forex means I can make some money and become my own best client promoting my own interesting projects.

Where promotions and commerce are meaningful, I’ll have something to say about how I do what I do.

My business is sustainable as a small lean operation, forex helps me kill time and make extra income so that my goals are not just about profit for my own necessity.

Here I can get away with dry business strategy. I am happy where my forex is right now. Next year I might try to up the game, or possibly closer to christmas.

Video Promotion Work in Auckland

If you’re in auckland and keen for a low wage part time job working in video production, promotions, event management casually I would love to hear from you:

KURB PROMOTIONS AUCKLAND:

So basically my business was doing well and that meant I could start taking things easy and just kind of taking time to really look at what I was doing, and think again about ideas I’d been given over the years by friends.

And that created another opportunity for me to do well again, so that really has put me over the line in terms of my personal financial needs in business.

It really changes the game for me, because business is now about other goals. Sure it creates profit, but that is merely money to go back into the purpose for which the organisation really exists.

When people with skills to offer can get paid doing something meaningful which isnt just about money, starting with artists expressing themselves, and also using communications and promotions to get positive messages and positive vibes circulating.

Dreams are nice but plans are better. Dreams mean I can consider a hope for the future where I can do a lot of exciting and rewarding things. But plans mean we need to look at – focus on – the things I want to do next. We know what those things are, growing out the interlaced possibilities extending between being a pirate entertainer, being a youtube video producer, and managing talent.

The friction point we’re experiencing now is editing.

If I had someone editing, I would focus solely on tama, and nail it so me and the editing person could nail out the videos the next day, theyre doing titles, or on odesk or fiverr we’re organising titles, we should start finding people to do

Dusky sound is a clear place to start. We need to perhaps jump on big idea and start spreading tentacles for people who can do this work. We won’t start until we hit $16k because I want to set aside $1k so that I can pay these people some decent money and expect some results.

We need to enter into discussions about what these people expect. $100 on odesk may go a lot further than on starnow or big idea. We have to start looking.

Okay so you get $200 so you can afford work for an assistant video production job person who comes in. What the hell to they do? Well they need to edit video for a start. Video skills is number 1. We need people with video skills to come and help. The cohort just got a massive budget. Starting immediately with $100 a week, and moving to $200 pretty much as soon as we start topping $1200, which won’t be rare.

People who will come and help me edit the footage. Even work with me.

Think about that girl on starnow, Giving her $50 for 4 hours and she can come 1-3 times a week. She can edit, we can shoot, etc., etc. But we could also have another person who is more skilled and pay her $80, and have them do one afternoon a week to. Of everything we know there will always be video work to be done and if they come in and do it, or go away and do projects, then thats going to save me time.

My fear is that as soon as we have $200 worth of wages to pay, we need to be pulling $1200 a week, I can’t relax. But we won’t jump to $200. We will find people who understand. As soon as I am regularly pulling $800 from the forex, having an assistant will be mandatory.

We may have to go to trademe.

LIST OF PLACES FOR GETTING APPLICANTS

trademe/gumtree/bigidea/starnow

Trademe is $160 and there’s no info about the listing but I suppose you could have it forever if you dared. The problem with trademe is we might get inundated.

We need a plan, and it doesn’t involve trademe yet. When you have dozens and dozens of people getting involved, you need a way to process the whole thing. I feel like I want a right hand person in position first, before the madness begins.

On gumtree youve just got nannies, it’s not the way right now. Starnow is next option, but Big idea is showing promise in providing direct contact. except there are very few listings. I may have to start my own to see how it goes, same with starnow, but I say we get to work.

I am looking at the south seas film school in the shore, maybe I can stick some notices around. SAE in parnell. The nz film academy on airedale st is directly addressing this with a call out to employers.

I will just email them telling them I am running a promotions business and want a student 1-3 afternoon a week to help me with my youtube channel and I am paying minimum wage. Again, there could be a barrage. Nothing wrong with that but I’d want to exploit the situation for the best.

In terms of practical application, of course we are looking for the person who can instantly start looking at the bee video and making things happen. This means we need an odesk strategy also. I say we put aside $200 for both second chances and dusky sound, and let odesk offer what it can.

But the person here would help me nail all these videos I want to do. New beats, flatmates, etc.

Then we move to pirates and the RC episode so things are really ramping up.

ADVERTISING

It’s only just hit me hard that we need to jump back on adwords. Before it was just not essential enough, but now that I will struggle to commit my budget theres no reason we cant commit $20 a week, and if it works, jump that up.

We can from this point start to look for these people who are going to change the game in this way.

Though I can’t help but think it’s a useful approach, but not everything can be fixed simply by trying to work out who I can pay to fix it. It’s an effective methodology but it’s not all purpose.

Someone may not be coming in a hurry to help me finish these videos.

***

It is proving quite difficult to make these things happen. Mainly because I am still distracted by the forex and wondering what it is, not to mention I actually have been working a bit.

I guess it was because we already had a reinvestment approach before we started generating new income, so there’s a lot of pressure to turn all this productive energy in the form of hard cash into gains for business and the people involved in it.

Employees need supervising though. This takes time. It takes time for plans to come together, and at the moment, I am still stuck in the thrill of “pay people to do everything” without quite knowing who will do what and how these actions will lead to a better situation.

The clearest thing right now is we need people to do the jobs that are holding us up – editing video.

In the future, there will be work to do. Editing video, working on cd dvd duplication jobs and event management such as flyering and poster placement.

Is this the path to getting NYL, talent management, gigs etc happening?

Well we want the cohort happening. Which means branding. Which makes me think I need to aggressive about building the cohort. Going out there and saying look do you want to be involved in music video production, club event management, and media production and promotion, working with or as a presenter/model.

Learn and earn!

It seems more and more obvious that there is no way to move forward from the structure I have now to a new structure without people building that new structure and operating within it. Again, identifying tasks and supervising are just as important as finding somebody and paying them.

It’s the test. If someone turns up now what are they doing? Learning to edit. Equally obvious is that editing is the main job right now, but the gig stuff, duplication,

Is there going to be enough work? Well my thought is we have complete interns, that’s what I thought when I was thinking about the cohort, I want proper apprentices. You come here for a few hours, you get a bit of money, and you learn.

I am ready to jump on trademe or gumtree or whatever, I think we have to establish if they have no video editing skills then they have to basically work for free. Again I have to find jobs for them. Video editing is the only consistent concept.

Then what? This is what we have to get clear about. We’ve tried to draw arrows through steps from here to where we’re going, doing youtube videos, pirates, parties etc, now we need to identify specificially what people are going to be coming in here and doing to help me. And at this point I can’t help but go back to my to do list and recognise that’s the issue right there. I can’t get through my to do’s to see past into the detail of how things will come together.

I needing branding and promo for my blogs and youtube channel, but there has to be something to promote! But no one is interested in being involved in something unless it’s got a brand. It shows just how carefully I have to plot and plan to get things off the ground.
