Assisting in Auckland CD Duplication and Copying Expansions

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

Okay so coming into 2012 we have a funny situation, where cd duplication is still going really well, we have the opportunity to reach out in new directions, but we can’t overstretch ourselves or what’s the point? What I’m saying is why ruin a perfectly good business by overstretching yourself just to get another off the ground?

You’d think I stop blogging if I wanted to slow down the pace of my business but I’ve got too many ideas and ultimately we want to make the choices that will allow us to grow smart. At the end of the day, 2 successful businesses will bring me to my business goal. But we don’t want to risk one for the other, we want to keep our eye on the ball and develop our secondary enterprises at a sensible pace.

Do I even have to put “cd duplication” here on this blog any more? Cd dvd duplication and cheap printing for auckland and new zealand is what we do here, mainly, we just had to focus on that because it was the easiest thing to turn around – all kinds of marketing and video production and presentation we offered gets really complicated when you’re trying to do it cheaply.

I think the point is you could do a lot of things if you keep at it, it depends on the result you’re looking for. I think maybe business ideas get easy, it’s easy to say hey we can do this, but then opportunity cost rears it’s head – what’s the real opportunity you’re looking for? Is that the opportunity you’re actually missing out on?

We thought heading into 2012 that pirates was the right move. We thought was a great idea because it ticked so many boxes. It’s stiull a great idea, but we decided that if there were more low intensity options that offered the opportunity for a smaller commitment, they should be looked at and considered.

So we focus on where we can take our core activity, but we also consider the bigger picture, that there is always a finite amount of energy and time to put into any effort.

The bigger picture is why would we want to grow our business? To create more opportunities outside of just profit. I guess if we’re already thinking about more people, and assistants, then anyway we grow the business increases the viability of that person. Just doing the numbers now, it’s crazy I haven’t moved on this. It’s just opportunity cost again, because we need someone who can pick things up, so I do less – literally. We recognised that driving around is probably the first thing, and combining that with printing and posting duties.

Someone can’t walk into that job, they’d have to work with me. It’s still pretty stressful, what about me, why do I want to grow this business?

Well as I said, just a little bit of growth and I’m in a pretty comfortable place financially. I’m not raking it in, but it’s enough for me. At the moment I have enough, with another business going strongly I would have enough to do more things that I didn’t expect.

Because it’s good to push yourself forward, push yourself to your best. With help, I could do more, but more importantly when it comes to the business, I do less, and at this stage, to remove all that would leave me with a lot of time, I think – to think, and know what I really want to do with the opportunities I’ve been given.

So in a lot of ways it’s all about not just hiring an assistant to do more jobs so I do less, but being able to pay an assistant to provide the ability to push forward with new ideas.

I would be just focused on the important stuff – sales, debt collection, accounting, and then my growth strategies. You’ve got to think of the assistant as the person who can get you out of here.

You want someone who takes the client, sorts out their art and printing, sorts out their audio, sorts out the cd duplication order, packaging and posts it off, on the way collecting ink, printing and discs for the next order.

so the work they are doing is
– dealing with clients, printers
– driving around
– cd duplication packaging

and the areas we are consolidating in

– buy dvd player
– stockpile supplies
– get assistant

Then I just get on with my own little expansion agenda.

We were talking about giving someone trademe, getting them going with the trademe side of things. That is a bit of a luxury though really.

again I was talking about getting over to australia and getting some cd dvd replication action on there, connecting with melbourne operations to get the discs flying out, people I was talking to were talking about sales being pushed by peple who could come in and help me, targeting certain markets, replicating not only the business model but the marketing strategy also.

More Progress in Auckland Services: Bartercard, Music on Trademe, Brochures

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Hi this is Matt from Kurb Promotions in auckland, I write on this blog – well originally I just used to throw up posts because blogging is a sensational way to get noticed and taken seriously by google, which can bring tyou a whole lot of traffic. Then I used as a tool to throw around ideas and it’s been great because some ideas really have to be worked over before they’re ready to become something workable.

Kurb specializes in the cheapest CD Duplication, DVD duplication, CD replication and DVD replication services in New Zealand and Australia. We also offer cheap auckland printing and photocopying services. We’re also moving into video production services and developing entertainment brands.

Our main new ideas come from bartercard and trademe. As we expand we are acquiring a new staff member, and I feel ready to tackle the idea of a brochure I can use to let people know about all our services.

The brochure is designed to let people using one of our services no about our other services, but we’re only focusing on general stuff.

So we’re talking in auckland, new zealand:

CD / DVD duplicating / CD / DVD replicating services
cheap printing and photocopying – auckland poster placement
video production services – the $495 package shifting to the $595 package.
pirate entertainers + DJ services / entertainment brands
budget online marketing:
$295 website
$295 youtube video
$295 newsletter/blog/press release combo
$295 advertising set up and campaign
$995 all of the above!

On trademe we’re now selling CD’s and DVD’s because it’s a safer way to get into online retailing and hopefully the assistant will come in and manage the whole thing, I’ll just add products. We’re selling 2 compilations and a mix cd for $15, the cost to me will be about a $1 for this in particular but it’s not a common case. I will definitely go for bundles. 2 cd’s cost $1.60 to produce, and I’ll sell for $15, I don’t know what fees are I’m hoping the profit is $13.70 as I say, just have to sell 10 a week, 9 even and it would be worthwhile.

A band could sell for $10, and receive $5 barter from us. But it’s not about the trademe business. It’s about establishing a market. Whether we go physical retail or direct is entirely circumstantial, we gather a market and then we can sell to them. I am half expecting that this blog will grow to be a part of the apparatus serving that market.

Firstly, we can mail them the brochure we’re planning, so they then become aware of our cd dvd duplication, our cheap auckland printing and photocopying services, and cd replication services, our video production services and our entertainment brands, we lay deals out for them and possibilities, compelling reasons why to choose our service.

Then of course we have established a market for music. If every time we put out a CD 500 people will buy it, We only need put out a CD each month and push it. You see when we do 500 duplicate CD’s we make about $400, but if we make $5 of each one, we make $2500. That’s $2000 p/month, that’s not shabby.

– soon we’ll be accepting bartercard for the following services:

– CD DVD duplication / CD DVD replication
– online marketing / small business marketing
– video production
– cheap colour printing

Email: kurbpromo@gmail.com

So I’ve gone ahead now and joined Bartercard and so far it’s looking pretty good. Since I discovered my mechanic is already in there, I was stoked.

At the moment, I’m bracketed to be making an extra $1500 p/month through bartercard.

Bars in town include: Grand Central and Basement

Local Cafes / Eateries include: Okra, Icoco, Euro Cafe, Noodle Canteen, Satya, Tusk

Carpet Cleaning, Dry Cleaning (st Lukes and Grey Lynn), Costume Hire, Locksmiths, Dentists, Skincare, Massage

95bfm if I wanted to promote an event

I figure that between restaurants and the mechanic I’ll use $100 p/week at least and doing this or that for the business and house and stuff will be the next $100, if I make any more, I’ll just blow it on myself. But it would be good to build up a surplus so I when I went away I could spend up on it.

I think there are certain aspects to our business that really dispose it towards the bartercard model, let me just list a few of those:

– TARGET MARKET – the cd and dvd duplication and dvd / replication – burning, printing, reproduction, pressing, manufacturing – all that kind of thing that we do – is a service mainly directed toward other businesses – business that are “b2b” that mainly serve other businesses rather than private customers are best suited to barter because we haver services that are in demand by the businesses that use bartercard.

– LOCATION – we’re based in central auckland – covering sandringham, balmoral, mt. eden, grey lynn, three kings, mt. roskill, mt. albert, pt. chev, avondale, ponsonby, k rd, symonds street, westmere, penrose, onehunga, new windsor, st. lukes, western springs, kingsland, newmarket, that covers a lot of businesses who will use us and we can use them. if we were out in the wops, then it would harder for us to provide our service to other users, and it means we are close to many restaurants and businesses we wouldn’t and couldn’t use otherwise.

BUSINESS STRUCTURE – I am the one who stands to benefit from this, I am aware that the bartercard for me will be about treating myself – debt collectors, panel beaters, tailors and drycleaners, restaurants, massages etc., a lot of these things are treats, or things I would deliberate over spending money on but not if I had a grand to spend on it every month, because I think that’s where I’ll be aiming. I don’t think the actual on paper profits will be significant but I’ll have a pool I can dip into for little boost ups.

– CAPACITY – I could easily handle another $1000 worth of business per week. Sure I’d have to jack up my operation a little, and be working hard again,

– REVENUE STRUCTURE our margins on cd / dvd duplication and cd / dvd replication are good, which means that a whole lot of orders coming through is not going to be a drag. Imagine if we were doing $1000 p/week in barter, which was costing me $500. Having to find $950 to spend my barter dollars on each week. Wow, now that would be interesting. I don’t see how it would be bad, or how I would be making more sales to bartercard people than direct revenue but it’s worthwhile considering.

Kurb Using Bartercard in Auckland for CD / DVD, Marketing, Printing, Video

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

Hi this is Matt from Kurb Promotions in auckland – soon we’ll be accepting bartercard for the following services:

– CD DVD duplication / CD DVD replication
– online marketing / small business marketing
– video production
– cheap colour printing

Email: kurbpromo@gmail.com

Right now I’ve been looking at joining bartercard which I think will be excellent for my business.

I’m not sure how much extra business it will generate, but I don’t think I’ll have any trouble

The truth is I would struggle to spend more than $800 a week on bartercard. You have to be aware that at some point – well in my example, after $800, you’re forking out over $250 a week in costs for money you have to look for excuses to spend ecause you can’t save it. You can’t see it as a bonanza because if you really were doing $950 per week . . . well say you’re making $1500 per week . . . suddenly you’re $2100 per week BUT only $1150 of it is cash. Before, you were saving $750 in cash, now you’re only saving $400, and you’re obliged to spend $950. So you’ve got more than you can spend, and you can’t save as much as you liked.

Surely by that stage I would be living out of a restaurant? Every other night, I’d be getting a new suit every 6 weeks, car serviced, lawns mowed, debts collected, massages and teeth whitened, I’d be going through that damn book looking for whatever. You can’t say that if you were having to spend $800 every week, you wouldn’t get your moneys worth.

The thing that really swayed me was this talk about the broker attempting to keep up with your spending. They give you a $2,500 limit off the bat, so if you go out and spend all that, then it’s up to your broker to help you recoup it. I mean it’s not like you pay interest. They aren’t getting that back unless someone uses you.

So if I am to spend $2000 per month, they’re going to find me $2000 worth of business. Which will cost me $600. So effectively, for $600 I get:

Lawns: $40 Auto: $200 Restaurants: $300 suit + drycleaning: $500 massage: $50 treatments: $200 cleaning $100

I’m already running out and I’m only at $1380, and it’s not like we could get a suit every month!

Well in the listing there’s:

Computer hardware
carpet cleaning
couriers
electrician
costume / party equipment hire
food manufactures, fruit and veges,
furniture
“liquidated and surplus stock” – that could be fun.
second hand dealers
office equipment hire

There are a lot of printers, which suggests if I have money mounting up I can always pay for it with barter.

Alright now I’m plugged into the good stuff.
Microdermoabrasion: $92 intro, $152 after.

Awesome, one of my favourite indian restaurants, Satya, is already on there!
There’s a local thai place, another indian place, a cafe the next suburb over and another cafe on my route to town
and another cafe, a place on khyber pass, and 2-3 different bars.

What things would be best to get from bartercard?

Auto repair and panelbeating
housecleaning / carpet cleaning

Drycleaning / tailors

I could see myself happily blowing a grand once

Deals on Cheap Auckland Wedding Videos and CD DVD Replication

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

I am always committed to developing new ideas for my business here at kurb and here on the blog is a great opportunity to talk about the ideas and really get to grips with what we’re trying to do.

It’s been a long process of isolating what the best steps were for me and the business. Right now I’m really enjoying discovering more free time where in the past I had so many ideas going that I wasn’t executing effeciently, that’s why I’m focusing on maximum long term returns.

The two key services I am looking to develop are cd dvd replication and our cheap auckland wedding videos.

1000 CD’s REPLICATED/ DELIVERED AUCKLAND / NEW ZEALAND : $1195

1000 DVD’s REPLICATED / DELIVERED AUCKLAND / NEW ZEALAND: $1495

CHEAP AUCKLAND WEDDING VIDEO – SHOT EDITED + 50 FREE DVD’s = $495 FOR A STRICTLY LIMITED TIME

With cd dvd replication we can now offer runs from 300 cd or dvd discs with high quality replication for some of the cheapest prices in New Zealand backed with our quality service so you get the best of both worlds – in fact I am confident that I am getting pretty close to offering the best all over service for disc reproduction in New Zealand and the plan is to start pushing over to australia also because our experience, honesty and low overheads are a winning combination to ensure our customers not only get the best deal but the fairest deal.

We now have the option of offering both cd dvd duplication that is fast and cheaper on runs under 1000, or cd dvd replication which is high quality and much better value on runs over 1000 if you’re able to wait the extra week it takes to get the product in hand.

I Have just set up placeholder pages that I can begin developing, which will have all the information on terms, pricing etc. relevant to the new service we are offering – I upload them now so google can start indexing them sooner, and

auckland cd dvd replication

cheap auckland wedding videos

cd dvd replication australia

CHEAP WEDDING VIDEOS AUCKLAND:

3 HOURS FILMING / BASIC EDITING

+ 50 DVD’s in a case with artwork printed on disc and printed cover

TOTAL: $495

I’m also considering doing other kinds of event video production perhaps even funeral videos, but for now I’m keeping with the auckland wedding videos because it’s something I can understand and approach, I know that it requires a high standard of professionalism but that’s why I will be doing a deal of 3 hours filming and 50 DVD’s – worth $225 just on their own – for $495. The clients have to accept this is just me starting out in late 2010 early 2011 and so I’m not likely to get it perfect.

A NEW BROCHURE / FLYER

Of course we also offer flyer and poster printing here at kurb in auckland, and of course that represents the opportunity for me to present what we offer and I’m already thinking about the best way to do that.

What services do we want to promote?

CD DVD duplication and replication services, cheap colour printing, posters and flyers, cheap auckland wedding video, video production services, pirate birthday entertainment, would be key.

Then, basic website design, graphic design and such, mentioning all that so people are aware of what we can offer and the depth of service we offer in auckland new zealand.

What situations will I be in to promote it, so what is the most effective method of doing so?

These are questions we’re liking to be answering soon on the kurb blog as we extend the platform for these new services we are offering and of course experiment with the marketing possibilities. Right now, we just want to get these pages indexed so we can begin developing them, and considering what will work from an advertising perspective.

Video For Auckland Gig / Event Promotion with Posters and Flyers

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Hi I’m Matt from Kurb!

Check out our deals on auckland posters – email kurbpromo@gmail.com // 027 684 8250

Kurb offers marketing and promotions services from Auckland to New Zealand and online services to clients internationally – check out the www.kurb.co.nz website for bargain deals on cd and dvd duplication, auckland printing, poster services, internet marketing specializing in  music and small business marketing, talent management, seo, ppc, online video production and promotion,  graphic and web design -. .

Hi I’m Matt Turner from Kurb and after 5 years of providing printing, design and distribution of posters and flyers, I can tell you it’s still the cheapest way there is to get awareness about your event or organisation out on the street in Auckland.

Kurb’s printing and placement deals around auckland are simply the cheapest on offer and are perfect if you don’t have a big budget for a street campaign, I know all about event promotion and why it’s so important to strike the right balance with your marketing budget.

The areas we mainly poster are areas where we’re experienced and know what to expect in terms of results. Our main areas we target are K rd, the Auckland University area, Symonds St, Ponsonby Rd, Grey Lynn, Kingsland, Mt Eden, and we can target other centres within Auckland City. I started putting posters up for gigs back in 2002 so I know the spots in this city inside and out. You don’t want to end up overpaying other companies for expensive placements that end up down a back alley in a neighbourhood unlikely to connect with whatever it is you’re promoting.

Now we are also prepared to consider postering other parts of Auckland, further out from the city but this usually includes an extra $50 travelling fee.

In terms of turnaround, we can often have posters going up within 48 hours of receiving your art, just remember thursdays and sundays are our main postering nights, and we don’t poster on a friday or saturday.

If you’re just looking for great printing deals we offer some of the cheapest printing deals in Auckland on shorter runs with a handy free delivery service – Some of those prices will be here on this page but don’t hesitate to look up our dedicated printing deals page at www.aucklandcopying.co.nz or just drop me a line at kurbpromo@gmail.com or call 027 684 8250

If you just need posters you’ve already had printed placed up, we have a set price of 60c per A3, 1.00 per A2 and 2.00 for an A1.

We also offer design services and can easily have a super professional poster design within 48 hours for you for just $80.

Also if you need us to supply photos of a sample of your placements, just add an extra $20. Don’t forget if you need some posters sent to a venue or to yourself – again absolutely free, just let us know.

Of course we combine deals with both posters and flyers – This is a good idea to have both posters on the street and smaller printed flyers placed in cafes and shops for more exposure. We can place these flyers for you, but we often recommend you do this yourself because you maybe more likely to know where the audience you’re targeting would frequent.

We are happy to place these for you at a price that works out around 10c p/flyer, so 500 flyers would be $50 to place.

If you are promoting an event we also offer short term online advertising campaigns targetting Auckland specifically which when combined with posters on the street, can dramatically increase your exposure while keeping costs under control – these commonly cost an additional $50 – $95 on top of your poster campaign to have targeted ads appear on Google and Facebook.

So if you’re on a budget and looking for exposure squarely targeted at Auckland for your event or organisation, you simply can’t go past the deals and experience offered here by us at kurb promo, so don’t hesitate to drop me a line at Kurbpromo@gmail.com or give me a call 027 684 8250 – I’m looking forward to get your poster and flyer campaign hitting the street at the price that can’t be beaten. Cheers

Growing Into Real Auckland Marketing Agency Business

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Hi this is matt from kurb, we offer marketing services, including online marketing, online video marketing and more right here in Auckland New Zealand!

KURBPROMO@GMAIL.COM

We’re also looking for interns to join us in our rise to full fledged advertising agency status – if you have the artistic, creative or generally organised kind of skills to work with us get in touch!

I think there could be some good opportunities for me starting a proper online marketing agency in the future, bringing in serious clients for projects worth five figures or maybe more.

It’s about bringing together loose strands that I’m working on already.

If I’m already offering cheap video production;

If I’m already developing my talent agency;

And I already have online marketing systems and techniques in place

And I plan to get a space where presentations and meeting with clients can be hosted

I’ve pretty much got all the elements in place, it just comes down to my ability to play Don Draper and come up with concepts that will helpmy clients sell more stuff and bringing that to life through youtube, facebook, twitter etc.

It’s not just social media, it’s strong creative video, copy and art direction, which is then distributed through social media, seo, advertising online, video, and community management projects that capture attention, engage, receive permission and then sell, or otherwise, enhance the brand.

If I could collect $200,000 a year in contracts and pay one creative, artistic guy to do design and video, and pay another to be organised and look after the clients and the contractors, and do everything I would otherwise do, then I could pay them $50k each, and be the creative director guy who just gets paid 100k to do detailed pitches and run the show.

Of course as I said the talent agency would be in house.

But the reason I’m drawing attention to this is now, for the first time, I can make my own ads for kurb and start putting a lil creative pep into them so it might get to the point that these ads are not just advertising small business marketing but also video marketing and production and general management of online marketing, viral marketing, and iteractive social media management.

Because people will start to see them and they will wonder if I can put that sort of quality of work that is funny and interesting and well executed together for their campaigns.

For me, it might be that I’m just beginning a long journey of chipping away and extending my reputation, it make take years of making stupid videos before I start to get attention.

How much would I charge for such a campaign, including a website a series of funny videos, social media an advertising campaign, art development, all of that kind of thing?

That already sounds like a job that would $10,000. 4 funny videos, a blog, a facebook and twitter presence, design plus advertising . . . definitely $10,000. But I need to come up with a package that would cost $5000 which would probably just be a funny video and some extras.

But that’s the thing any idea would need development. I guess initially I’d charge $5,000 until we were doing 10 a year then, I could start putting my prices up, just like the music marketing services – wait until it reaches a point that I’m too busy and then raise the prices gradually.

Man I just realised I could provide music as well. Brilliant.

I think the idea is to use the same strategy I’ve used in building my promotions with kurb, starting with really stupidly low prices and big promises founded on a significant trial period practicing this stuff for myself, and then waiting for the market to react, obviously producing a little bit of friction as growth kicks in, but ultimately getting to a point where I can do 10 x $20,000 campaigns and

In fact I’m thinking my project with reality compound, if I did secure sponsorship, could cover one $50,000 campaign and then the next year I would turn around and ask for $100,000.

I’m liking this already, it may take me 5 years, but hey, 5 years ago I was just bumming around on myspace the whole time not really knowing what was up yet and had just done my first tour. 5 years is a long time to get this done.

And all it really means is making more money, but hey, thats okay. I’m sure I’ll find something to spend it on.

The overall concept is starting from the services I provide in auckland for marketing, promotions, not only will I have a base for fast and urgent turn around of the services we provide such as CD and DVD duplication, copying, reproduction as well as poster prinitng, flyer printing as well as general online marketing and promotions but I would also extend that into products that aid smaller operators with meeting their promotions needs.

There is going to be continued fracturing and breaking down of smaller groups and individuals wanting to express themselves by pursuing their own projects, whether that’s music, cultural or sports groups, schools, various individual art projects and small business promotions, and I’m aiming for us to extend our role there.

There’s a do it yourself attitude that’s not only aided and enabled me in business but it’s allowing all sorts of individuals and groups to express themselves in new ways. It doesn’t matter what people want to do, their always going to need to create awareness and exposure as well as using products and services to help define themselves to a wider audience.

We’re already recognised for our cheap affordable discount budget prices and without losing quality service from our company business,  now we’ll be moving into products, and delivery of services that are more immediate to the user.

You need a colour copy, you need internet access, then it will be there just like your average internet cafe or copy shop.

You need media, plasticware, packaging, art supplies, that will be there also, and the expertise to help you, so you come in looking for some plastic things or you need some colour prints or to use the internet and grab a coffee then you can get those things, but it’s once you move beyond that – once you need the website design, the cd and dvd, the printing, the posters, the online marketing, that’s when you need higher end expertise.

You need high end equipment and you want someone who speaks good english to explain it to you, earnestly, you want someone ther in that old fashioned way who will give you advice about what you need when you’re tackling promotions and marketing, whether high end equipment, a physical promotional material to be rpelicated, or online media services.

So yeah I might be driving out to the city fringe warehouse putting 20% on the price of certain high end items for specific functions, special cameras, printers, media items, hard drives, phones, ipods, accessories, ink, whatever.

And I want to push that brand out there over the years, a one stop shop for low end marketing and promotions. It’s a place where people are attracted to, and that may be a hassle, but it will trickle up in terms of branding and people recognising it as a place to go to invest in promotion, and to get promotions services.

And you need the outlet too. Again, like copying or the internet cafe or selling coffee, it’s not going to be a huge money earner, in fact it will be a hassle at first, but slowly, it’s about cultivating that brand that customers can come down and get what they need, and our customers need promotion. We need huge posters in the window promoting our clients and we need to sell our clients stuff, because having the stuff available, being an outlet is what it’s about, providing promotions.

Initially I wanted to save on overheads by setting up out of the way where rent would be cheap, but then I started examine the wisdom of this, because although internet marketing and online promotions is my specialty area, it is really a case of having all your eggs in one basket and although I definitely plan to leverage my internet marketing skills to get my retail operation off the ground, I want to take that challenge on of getting people into the shop.

Now I’ve thought through the plans for my retail operation and the branding and the marketing and the stock and what have you and there are just a few little issues niggling at me there which are stopping me from ploughing into it with gusto and looking at the options.

The main one is the reality of losing money for 6 months at least, I estimate realistically about $5000-$15000 before it starts breaking even.

It will take 6 months just to get everything in there – internet computers, a colour copier, coffee machine, the stuff we’re likely to need to perform multiple services – one of those booths that print photos, ink refiller, what else are we going to do?

Cut keys? Send faxes? Y’know? Just walk around town looking at what retailers are offering and who is using these services, and accept that it is annoying that you have to build a clientele out of $1, $2, $4 service transactions.

Then the place will have to be stocked, first with plastics and supplies, with food, with our technical offerings, and then, in true retail spirit, I want to move into basically offering anything of value I can purchase in bulk and believe will be of genuine interest to anybody who needs it amidst our clientele.

I also see targeting tourists, especially the twentysomethings, they’ll have need for the services but they’ll also want a cultural connection with the locality. Also out of towners, I know what it’s like on tour or road trip when you arrive in a new place, you want to arrive at that place where you can check your email, grab a coffee, catch up on what’s happening locally.

Another strategy is looking at it as 100 people who will spend $10 every week there, and then 1000 people who will spend $10 every month there.

Anyway back to the issues – It will cost money over the first 6 months to get it running and it will lose money over the first 6 months as we struggle to get the $100 p/day I need to keep the thing running – paying the rent and the wages.

And that’s the real issue. The real issue is going into not knowing what the future will hold when you know it’ll lose ten grand before it can even get started.

Negotiating that reality will be one of the hardest tests.

Need cheap digital media services in Auckland?

kurbpromo@gmail.com

Alright just doing an update on the kurb business plan and letting everyone know as a kurb auckland service announcement that october will be quite slow – not only am I on tour in the south island but I am getting ready to release the debut Soul Science Mix Sampler so if you’re into drum and bass definitely check that out and be watching out for the Short Circuit tour and gigs from Soul Science this summer.

But that’s not what this blog is about because of course kurb is the business end and so I keep this journal discussing the kind of business we’re developing. Mainly because it shows a lot of my thought processes when approaching new business propositions as well as giving me a chance to describe the servides we do offer and what we are likely to be doing.

Our 3 areas were going to be video, printing and pirates.

Pirates will definitely have to be put on hold but this is definitely more of a long term project now that I am looking at doing all this personal music stuff I can’t really focus on the pirates.

Auckland Printing and copying services though however have really started to pick up since we’re getting great results on google for all our printing services.

Sure the profit margins  are low on each job, but I can see the momentum picking up and at the end of the day it’s not exactly hard work to arrange super cheap printing through our discount rate, it’s just printing it doesn’t involve all the intensive set up of CD or DVD duplicating

Video is also looking promising with a big regular job landed through our cheap video production site. I will be presenting a 5 minute video to appear online every week for a very cheap price, but it has shown me that there is a demand for low end video and bodes well for future expansion of this service also.

Also we’ve got our first client through our new Auckland talent agency we’re developing which means rather than silly old me you can have the choice of an attractive young lady or promo model to present your online video presentation. Our first client is a gorgeous 18 year old blonde with a killer smile and I think we all know that she’s going to get more hits on youtube than you and I went putting together a cheap online video for your product or service.

Media / Marketing / Promotions / Online Position in Grey Lynn, Auckland

Again, preparing to try and find an intern / assistant / apprentice type person to train up so drafting out a copy for an online ad . . . kurbpromo@gmail.com

Hi, I am entrepreneur who specializes in online marketing and music management, I run several online businesses and handle up to a dozen music and entertainment clients from NZ and around the world at a time.

Once again, despite staff both here and overseas assisting with the business, I am having to turn down opportunities because I have my own personal priorities.

This of course creates the opportunity to bring on and train an assistant or an apprentice to get involved but the skills and experience needed working alongside clients, in online marketing, and in providing our local services, requires knowledge and understanding of what exactly we provide.

This is why this is a training opportunity rather than an offer of immediate employment which would suit a bright younger person of senior high school or university age who was able to commit at least some time initially to learning the broader nature of what we do.

This is a REAL music management, promotions and online marketing business and no training will substitute for experience in a successful working operation, in a position where you can learn the workings of such a business, and easily progress as there is clearly demand for what we do that we cannot currently meet.

Initially we’ll start you working online in music promotion so you won’t have to come in. I’ll be waiting to be impressed by someone who learns quickly and has an agile understanding of online promotion and dealing with the clients concerns by email.

At that stage, to progress you to a paid position which is what the ultimately is, you will have to come in and begin particpating in the more practical parts of the business.

Customer service is paramount, so your understanding of the full range of services we provide and responding to clients inquiries is vital.

But also we have over half a dozen staff working offshore, I need to train someone to keep these staff members on task in terms of our clients projects and goals, while reporting to me and to clients.

This is the role you’ll move into ultimately if you’re looking for high paid career opportunity. Obviously if within a year or two I could replace myself in managing the business that would be something I could definitely provide a generous salary for and also give you an invaluable skill set for business managament in the future.

But until then:

Deliveries and supply runs would also be included, obviously if you have access to a vehicle for a few hours at a time this would be a massive help.

Because Email is our main form of communication and written content still plays a major part in online marketing, good written skills are important.

Summary of what you’ll need to be considered:

Regular access to the internet

Strong written communication – good marks in English, History, Social Studies etc.

Experience and understanding of photoshop, video

Understanding of online social networks: youtube, myspace, facebook etc.

Access to a vehicle
